About the Event
Set in the beautiful surrounds of Earthwise Community in central Subiaco, this full day Introduction to Permaculture aims to provide an interactive workshop where you have the time to really get your teeth into the foundation of permaculture - what it is and what it is not. Â
Permaculture design is systems thinking based around three core ethics as its central values - Care for the Earth, Care for People and Share of the Surplus - you can't go wrong with that. Â Twelve principles help to guide permaculture designers with making an energy efficient design that is holistic, regenerative and beautiful that is underpinned by those three ethics and is brought together in a environmentally sensitive considered approach. Â It is where we create a productive and sustainable landscape that mimics the patterns and closed loop system we find in a natural ecosystem.
Through this workshop will be explore the foundation of permaculture, from its birth in Tasmania over 40 years ago, to how it has been developed and adopted worldwide.
Participants will leave with a sound understanding of how those ethics and principles become the keystone of a design from sector analysis, zoning and element analysis to then try their hand at some basic mapping. Â The workshop is theory, hands on, creative, group and also individual work and designed to help you think laterally by utilising the diversity of the group.
If you are not quite ready to particpate in the 72 hour Permaculture Design Certificate, but are keen to know more, Â this one day workshop may be for you.
